Ingredients
  

The Cake Base:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter - Softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk - Room temperature
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
The Apple Mix:
  • 3 medium apples - Peeled & diced
  • 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour - Coats apples to prevent sogginess
Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon cold butter - Cut into small pieces

Equipment

  • 1 9x13 baking pan (Greased)
  • 1 Large mixing bowl
  • 1 Electric mixer (Or whisk if mixing by hand)
  • 1 Sharp knife (For peeling and chopping apples)
  • 1 Measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 Rubber spatula (For folding and spreading batter)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9x13-inch pan.
  2. Peel and dice apples. Toss with cinnamon, brown sugar, and flour. Let sit 5 minutes.
  3. Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, then add milk and vanilla. Fold in flour, baking powder, salt.
  4. Layer half the batter into pan, add apples, top with remaining batter. Make topping and sprinkle over.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes until done. Cool 15 minutes before serving.
