Ingredients

The Cake Base:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter - Softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk - Room temperature
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

The Apple Mix:

  • 3 medium apples - Peeled & diced
  • 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour - Coats apples to prevent sogginess

Cinnamon Sugar Topping:

  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon cold butter - Cut into small pieces

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9x13-inch pan.
  • Peel and dice apples. Toss with cinnamon, brown sugar, and flour. Let sit 5 minutes.
  • Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, then add milk and vanilla. Fold in flour, baking powder, salt.
  • Layer half the batter into pan, add apples, top with remaining batter. Make topping and sprinkle over.
  • Bake for 35–40 minutes until done. Cool 15 minutes before serving.
