  • 3 Very ripe bananas - Mashed; about 1 ½ cups
  • 1 cup Brown sugar - Packed
  • 2 Eggs - Large
  • ½ cup Butter - Melted
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • ½ cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ cup Chocolate chips - Optional, fold-in
  • ½ cup Chopped walnuts - Optional, for crunch
  • Sea salt flakes - Optional, sprinkle on top before baking

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13-inch pan.
  2. Peel and mash very ripe bananas with a fork until mostly smooth.

  3. Mix mashed bananas with melted butter. Beat in eggs, stir in vanilla and sugar.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add dry mixture to wet ingredients and stir just until combined.

  6. Fold in chocolate chips and/or nuts if using.
  7. Pour batter into the pan, spread evenly, and bake for 25–30 minutes.

  8. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then cover with a towel and cool completely.
