  • 150 g fresh or frozen cherries - pitted & chopped
  • 75 g maraschino cherries - drained & chopped
  • 2 tablespoon cherry juice or syrup - from maraschino jar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 100 g chocolate chips - optional
  • 60 g chopped walnuts - optional
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract - optional
  • powdered sugar - for dusting, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven, line pan with parchment, prepare cherries.
  • Melt chocolate and butter, stir in sugars, eggs, vanilla.
  • Sift in flour, cocoa, salt; fold until just combined.
  • Fold in cherries, cherry juice, and any optional mix-ins.
  • Spread batter in pan, bake until moist crumbs, cool completely.
