- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- Mash the bananas until mostly smooth with small chunks for texture.
- Stir in melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix in eggs and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using), reserving a few chips for topping.
- Pour batter into loaf pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle with extra chips.
- Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let cool in pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
