  • ¼ cup butter softened regular or plant-based
  • ¼ cup creamy peanut butter smooth well stirred
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar lightly packed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar for sweetness and texture
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract pure vanilla preferred
  • ¼ teaspoon salt fine sea salt or table salt
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour heat-treated and completely cooled before using
  • ¼ cup semisweet chocolate chips optional or substitute peanut butter chips

  1. Heat-treat slightly more flour than needed by baking it at 350°F (175°C) for about 5 minutes or microwaving until thoroughly heated. Let it cool completely before measuring the required amount.
  2. Beat the softened butter together with the peanut butter until the mixture becomes silky and fully blended.
  3. Add both sugars and continue mixing until the texture is light and fluffy, then blend in the vanilla extract until evenly incorporated.
  4. Mix the cooled heat-treated flour and salt into the peanut butter mixture just until a soft dough forms.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips, if using, until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Serve immediately or refrigerate for a firmer texture before enjoying. finish
