Ingredients
  

  • 8 slices White sandwich bread - Crusts removed, flattened
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese - Cheddar or preferred cheese
  • 2 tablespoon Butter, softened - For spreading & brushing
  • pinch Salt and pepper - Optional
  • 4 slices Ham or turkey (optional) - Thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoon Cooked bacon pieces (optional)
  • 4 slices Tomatoes (optional) - Thin slices
  • 2 tablespoon Jam or jelly (optional) - For sweet version

  • 1 Sharp knife (To trim crusts)

Method
 

  1. Trim crusts, flatten bread slices with rolling pin until about half thickness.
  2. Spread thin layer of butter, sprinkle cheese, add optional fillings, season lightly.
  3. Roll tightly from one edge, press seam side down, brush outside with butter.
  4. Heat skillet medium, cook seam-side down first 2–3 minutes, then roll to brown all sides (8–10 minutes total).
  5. Remove when golden and cheese is melted. Serve warm.
