  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract pure vanilla for enhanced flavor
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour measured carefully about 228 grams

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder creates a softer texture
  • ½ teaspoon salt balances the sweetness
  • 1 ¼ cups milk chocolate chips sweet chocolate pieces distributed throughout the dough

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a baking sheet by covering it with parchment paper.
  2. Beat the softened butter with both sugars using a mixer on medium speed until the mixture becomes creamy, about 2 minutes.
  3. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined, then scrape the sides of the bowl to ensure even mixing.
  4. Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt, mixing until the dry ingredients are mostly incorporated.
  5. Fold in the milk chocolate chips until they are evenly spread throughout the cookie dough.
  6. Scoop the dough into portions about 2 tablespoons each and place them on the prepared baking sheet with at least 2 inches of space between cookies.
  7. Bake the cookies for 10–12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are still soft.
  8. If needed, gently shape the warm cookies into neat circles using a large round cutter without cutting through the cookies.
  9. Allow the cookies to rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then move them to a wire rack to cool completely.
