Ingredients

  • ¾ cup 158 g butter softened regular or dairy free
  • cup 67 g granulated white sugar
  • ½ cup 105 g light brown sugar
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract pure
  • ¾ teaspoon salt kosher or sea salt
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda regular
  • 2 cup + 3 tablespoon 276 g all-purpose flour measured correctly
  • ½ cup 90 g semisweet chocolate chips or chopped semisweet chocolate
  • ¾ cup 150 g Reese’s Pieces candy can be substituted with any candy
  • Flaky sea salt for sprinkling on top after baking

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a standing mixer or using a handheld mixer, combine the softened butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar. Beat until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture. Beat until just combined—do not overmix.
  4. Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt until the dough comes together.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and Reese’s Pieces, mixing until just incorporated.
  6. Using a medium cookie scoop or a spoon, form dough into 1.5-2 tablespoon sized balls. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spaced about 3-4 inches apart.
  7. Bake the cookies for 7-11 minutes, or until the edges are set and slightly golden. The cookies should look soft and pale in the center—this ensures a chewy texture. Remove from the oven and let them sit on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  8. While the cookies are still hot, sprinkle a generous pinch of flaky sea salt on top.
